Based in Brooklyn, Dre Skull has been taking his high energy DJ sets from warehouses to super clubs, across the country and around the world, manning the decks in Tokyo, China, Australia, Mexico, and across Europe. Known for mixing genres and decades, his far ranging sets move from old school Chicago house to jacking Fidget, from epic rave anthems to dark UK Bassline house and back again.
As a producer, Dre Skull keeps this genre mixing aesthetic, taking on an equally diverse range of sounds and styles. His most recent release with Juiceboxxx, “Center Stage,” features remixes from Drop The Lime alter ego Curses! and house legend Farley Jackmaster Funk and has been enjoying strong support from some big names. In the UK, “Center Stage” continues to receive regular radio spins on Kiss FM and BBC Radio 1 with additional support from Herve and Sinden, who have included it on their recently released BBC Radio 1 Essential mix. Annie Mac also choose the track for her best of 2007 list, calling Dre Skull, “a name for the future.”
The previous single, “Sweat,” garnered similar support and airplay and was subsequently licensed for a Mixmag cover CD and Bang Gang Deejay’s Light Sound Dance compilation on Modular Records. The future will see the release of several Dre Skull 12″ singles with varied collaborators ranging from dancehall legend Sizzla to New Orleans Bounce heavyweights Gotty Boi Chris and Sissy Nobby. Up first, is his remix of Goon & Koyote’s “Wellness is Wild” which is out now on Disque Primeur.
